Carson and I were visiting LA in early July 2012 for the weekend. I was excited for a fun weekend getting to catch up with all of my LA friends and coworkers but little did I know, we would be celebrating so much more! When we woke up that Saturday morning, Carson said he made me something. With my birthday about two weeks away, I assumed it was an early birthday present – not a proposal!
Carson put together an incredible photobook of us over the last 12 (or 13?) years starting with a picture of us from sophomore year of high school at his winter formal dance and going through summer 2012. I was taking my time looking carefully at each picture and recounting all of the wonderful memories we’ve had together (and pointing out a few photos that were out of order). Meanwhile, Carson was pretty quiet but I still didn’t realize what was to come …
I turned to the second to last page to see a picture of Carson down on one knee with a ring box and him asking to marry me! At the same time, Carson reached down by his side and pulled the most beautiful engagement ring out of his bag. I think I yelled yes, laughed and cried all at the same! And then I thanked him and asked if the ring was insured.
It was the perfect, intimate proposal with just the two of us and I love that we will always have a book to remember that moment. We then called our families and headed out to hike Runyon Canyon. The morning sunshine was the perfect place for me to admire my super-sparkly engagement ring!
